If it’s a negative reaction: “Racism.” If it’s an agreement on racial divide, you become part of the problem, part of the division in this country. The Doctor’s goal is to infuriate the listener and provoke a reaction. This is a much more positive outlook on the world, and a much lower risk of influence of violence through interpretation. It might be better to suggest “the opportunity to be good is everywhere” and “in everyone”. Saying that “racism is everywhere” and “in everyone”, equates to “hate is everywhere” and “in everyone”. Khilanani appears to have experienced such negativity and trauma that it has distorted her professional interpretation of racial discrimination. Self perception is shaped by personal opinion and life experience, which is justified by consensus. During the interview, she claimed “Racism is something that is unconscious” “racism is everywhere” and “it is actually in everyone”.
